an appalachian turkey day

yesterday i seemed to be the only one driving into ohio…or maybe just the only one driving the appalachian highway into athens, ohio. either way, i made it in record time even while taking time to enjoy the views.

in my 5.5 hours i was able to listen to npr for at least an hour, and when the static proved too much, switched to the local classic rock and twang of western maryland stations… that didn’t last long so i made a few calls and then turned to my trusty ipod. when i crossed into west virginia i caught a few minutes of the writers almanac, where i learned some cool tidbits about voltaire. i particularly like this quote:
“Let us read and let us dance — two amusements that will never do any harm to the world.” – Voltaire
i agree. but today, let’s also eat
happy thanksgiving.

There is much to be gained from the solitude of a long drive alone. Looks like yours wasn’t too bad.
